Basic Security Course (BST)
This course is designed for anyone interested in starting a career in the exciting and growing field of security. It provides the knowledge and understanding of laws, regulations, and professional standards needed to pass the Security Worker Competency Exam offered by the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC).
Participants will learn key topics such as professional conduct, relevant laws and regulations, note-taking, report writing, use of force, and tactical communication. This training builds a strong foundation to help students succeed both in the exam and on the job in the security industry.
After passing the JIBC exam, you will be eligible to apply for a Security Worker License from the Province of British Columbia. This license allows you to work as a licensed security guard in BC. Our course not only prepares you for the exam but also helps build the confidence and skills needed to start your new career.
Advance Security Course (AST)
The Advanced Security Training (AST) course is designed for security professionals who want to build on their Basic Security skills and learn how to respond safely in situations involving physical force. This course meets the standards set by the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) and prepares participants for the Advanced Security Worker Competency Exam.
The training includes hands-on practice and instruction in key areas such as Use of Force, Tactical Communication, Pressure Points, Take-Downs, and the proper Use of Handcuffs. Participants also gain a clear understanding of the laws and regulations related to physical control and personal safety.
This course prepares individuals for roles such as Loss Prevention Officer, Special Event Security, or any position where physical intervention may be required. Upon successful completion, participants are authorized to carry and use handcuffs while working as a licensed security guard in British Columbia.
