Emergency Scene Traffic Control Training

This instruction and training will prepare Emergency Services Personnel/First Responders who are required to direct traffic at unplanned emergency events, such as crashes, spills, police events or natural disasters that occur on or adjacent to roads.

Emergency Services Personnel/First Responders will be able to:

Location:   Northern B C Guard Academy, 1919 17th Ave., Prince George B.C.

Time:   08:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., for 2 hrs. optional practice component, 45min./1 hour lunch breaks non-scheduled energy breaks 

Purpose:  This instruction and training will prepare Emergency Services Personnel/First Responders who are required to direct traffic at unplanned emergency events, such as crashes, spills, police events or natural disasters that occur on or adjacent to roads.

Course Prerequisites: Emergency Services Personnel/First Responders must have a minimum of grade 10 reading and comprehension abilities and a solid grasp of the English Language.

Course Format: Lectures, reading from and completion exercises in a book, discussions and practical traffic control scenarios.

Design: Classroom instruction with optional practice component

Hours: 3.5 hrs. of instruction, plus additional time for 2 hr. optional practice component.

Certification: Certificate of participation. No expiration or duration

Delivery: Lectures, group activities, role play, reading from a book and completing written exercises.

Course Content:

Required Text: The Traffic Control at Emergency Scenes Participant Guide

Evaluation: Evaluation of learning, for this course, will be conducted throughout the 3.5 hours of instruction, practical skills demonstration and an open book written test. The written test consists of fifteen questions on information covered in the course and in a pick the correct answer format. Students must attain a passing mark of 80% or better to pass the written test to meet the Construction Safety Network of British Columbia’s minimum standards for licencing. If taking the optional practical component, a pass/fail grade will be assigned by the instructor.

Optional Scenario: Hard hat, approved safety vest and retro-reflective arm and wrist bands will be provided for their demonstrations.

Note: Candidates who successfully write the examination and demonstrate safe practices in their optional practical session will be issued a temporary E.T.C. certificate prior to the end of the course.

All courses are subject to minimum/maximum size requirement and as such cancellation can be made with reasonable prior notice.

Cost: $75.00, all manuals are included in this price
